HÉRCULES, A SAGA - II-15 - Heedless Hearts

After Iolaus (Michael Hurst) is knocked unconscious by a lightning bolt during a sudden storm, he awakens with the uncanny ability to predict events before they happen. He proceeds to warn a skeptical Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) about the appearance of a beautiful young woman only moments before Rheanna (Audie England) rides up on horseback. She tells them of the death of her husband Jordis (Bruce Hopkins) during a failed rebellion against the ruthless King Melkos (Michael Keir-Morrisey), and pleads for Hercules' help in delivering her village from tyranny. Mesmerized by her passion and beauty, Hercules agrees to lend a hand and the three set out for Colchis. On the way, they come upon a group of fleeing villagers, who are suddenly attacked by king's soldiers under the command of Syrus (Nigel Godfrey). As Hercules, Iolaus and Rheanna rush to their defense, some of the refugees are inspired to join the fight and together, they drive off their attackers.

When they reach the village, Rheanna leads Hercules and Iolaus to the local tavern where the bartender Vericles (Robert Horwood), who is one of Rheanna's rebels, puts them up for the night. Meanwhile, King Melkos, in discussions with his right-hand man Grovelus (Michael Saccente) about a plan to crush the rebels the following day, is infuriated when Syrus shows up and recounts his failure at the hands of a woman and two strangers. Later that night, Iolaus predicts that Hercules is going to lose a lot of money. The next day, Rheanna holds a secret meeting with Hercules, Iolaus and her band of rebels, including Clarion (Grant Triplow), Vericles, Gnossus (Nigel Corbett) and his wife Hephates (Sara Wiseman). There she reveals a plan -- based on inside information from Gnossus, the King's bookkeeper -- to steal a shipment of gold paid for by the villagers' taxes as it is being transported through the Lucian forest. When they put the plan into action, however, they find themselves ambushed by mounted soldiers. Fortunately, Hercules and Iolaus are able to hold off the troops while the rebels flee.

As Hercules and Rheanna ponder who might have set them up, they learn that soldiers have dumped a body in the village square. The mortally wounded rebel turns out to be Gnossus who, with his dying breath, tells Rheanna and Hephates that he was not the traitor. When Hercules tries to comfort the devastated Rheanna, she reveals that Gnossus was her brother. Later that day, Iolaus predicts that his friend will be betrayed by Rheanna, and Hercules -- who is falling more and more in love with her by the moment -- dismisses the warning.

Meanwhile, Syrus saves himself from execution by revealing that one of his soldiers is close to a member of the rebels' inner circle. At the same time, Iolaus receives his most frightening vision yet -- he "sees" the death of Hercules.

At dawn the following morning, as the rebels gather in an abandoned temple to prepare for another raid, Syrus bursts in with his troops. Hercules and Iolaus jump into the fray but when Vericles is killed and Rheanna taken hostage, all are forced to surrender. The real traitor turns out to be Hephates, Rheanna's sister-in-law, and the woman Iolaus "saw" in his vision. King Melkos decrees that the rebels and Hercules will be found guilty and executed after a trial the next day. But when morning comes, Hercules and Iolaus cleverly trick their prison guards and free all the prisoners. Hercules, Iolaus and Rheanna make a dazzling escape with only seconds to spare. Now very much in love, Hercules and Rheanna make their way with Iolaus to a farmhouse in the countryside where Rheanna knows they'll be safe. There, she is simulaneously stunned and thrilled to see her husband Jordis alive, and learns that he was secretly rescued by rebels after the battle which Rheanna believed had killed him. That night, Hercules and Iolaus scale the walls of the king's castle and loose the drawbridge so the rebels can enter. The fierce battle which follows succeeds in toppling King Melkos, though Iolaus suffers a blow to the head which ends his power to foretell the future. In the end, Hercules bids a sad farewell to Rheanna, thanking her for taking his heart somewhere he was no longer sure it could go.

Hercules e Iolaus caminhavam por uma Estrada, sob um céu tempestuoso, quando de repente um relâmpago atingiu Iolaus. Hercules ficou alarmado com seu amigo, mas, a par de um tanto “chamuscado”, Iolaus não parecia estar ferido (!). Quando recobrou a consciência, Iolaus estranhamente tinha adquirido a capacidade de prever eventos futuros. Ele avisou a um céptico Hercules sobre a aparição de uma bela jovem, momento antes de Rheanna surgir diante deles, cavalgando pela estrada, e parar bem onde estavam. Ela lhes contou sobre a morte de seu marido, durante uma rebelião fracassada contra o cruel Rei Melkos, e implorou que Hercules a ajudasse a livrar seu povoado da tirania. Mesmerizado pela beleza dela, o filho de Zeus concordou em ajudá-la, e os três seguiram para o povoado de Colchis.
No caminho, eles toparam com um grupo de camponeses em fuga, que estavam sendo atacados por soldados do rei liderados por um tal Syrus. Enquanto Hercules, Iolaus e a própria Rheanna corriam para defendê-los, alguns dos refugiados acabaram encorajados pelos três a se juntarem à luta, e, juntos, repeliram os atacantes.
Quando chegaram ao povoado, Rheanna levou Hercules e Iolaus para a taverna local, onde um homem chamado Vericles, que era um dos rebeldes de Rheanna, os hospedou por aquela noite.
Entrementes, o rei Melkos, em conselho de guerra com seu braço-direito Grovelus, planejava massacrar os rebeldes no dia seguinte, pois ficara furioso com a derrota de Syrus. Este, que estava presente, contou que fora derrotado porque os rebeldes tiveram a ajuda de uma mulher e dois estrangeiros.
Mais tarde, naquela noite, Iolaus predisse a Hercules que ele ia perder muito dinheiro. No dia seguinte, Rheanna encontrou-se em segredo com Hercules, Iolaus e seu grupo de rebeldes, incuindo Clarion, Vericles, Gnossos e sua esposa Hephates. Ali, ela revelou um plano – baseado em informações de Gnossos, que era guarda-livros do rei – de roubar um carregamento de ouro, produto dos impostos pagos pelos camponeses, que ia ser transportado pela Floresta de Lucian. Quando eles colocaram o plano em ação, contudo, eles foram emboscados por soldados a cavalo. Felizmente, Hercules e Iolaus foram capazes de lidar com as tropas enquanto os rebeldes fugiam.
Enquanto Hercules e Rheanna tentavam descobrir quem os havia traído, ficaram sabendo que os soldados tinham lançado um corpo na praça do povoado. O rebelde mortalmente ferido era Gnossos, que, em seu último suspiro, disse a Rheanna que Hephates e ele não eram os traidores. Quando Hercules tentava consolar a abalada Rheanna, ela lhe revelou que Gnossos era seu irmão.
Mais tarde, naquela noite, Iolaus predisse que Hercules ia ser traído por Rheanna, e Hercules – que estava ficando na verdade mais e mais apaixonado pela bela rebelde – desconsiderou o aviso.
Entrementes, Syrus conseguia livrar-se da execução sumária revelando que um dos soldados era “muito próximo” do círculo íntimo dos rebeldes. Ao mesmo tempo, Iolaus tinha a sua mais aterrorizante visão: ele “viu” a morte de Hercules!
Ao amanhecer do dia seguinte, enquanto os rebeldes se reuniam em um templo abandonado para preparar nova investida, Syrus atacou com suas tropas. Hercules e Iolaus lançaram-se à luta, mas quando Vericles foi morto e Rheanna levada como refém, foram forçados a se render. O verdadeiro traidor revelou-se ... era Hephates, a cunhada de Rheanna, e a mulher que Iolaus tinha “enxergado” em sua visão.
O rei Melkos, então, decretou que os rebeldes e Hercules eram considerados culpados e seriam executados após julgamento no dia seguinte. Mas, quando chegou a manhã, Hercules e Iolaus, astuciosamente, enganaram os guardas e libertaram todos os prisioneiros. Hercules, Iolaus e Rheanna conseguiram uma fuga espetacular, em poucos segundos.
Agora caídos de amores um pelo outro, Hercules e Rheanna, em companhia de Iolaus, seguiram rumo a uma fazenda retirada, onde Rheanna sabia que estariam a salvo. E lá, Rheanna acabou descobrindo, chocada, que seu esposo, Jordis, ainda estava vivo, e soube que ele tinha sido secretamente resgatado na batalha na qual ela acreditara que tivesse sido morto, pois tinha-o visto tombar em combate.
Naquela noite, Hercules e Iolaus escalaram as muralhas do castelo do rei e baixaram a ponte para que os rebeldes pudessem entrar. A feroz batalha que se seguiu levou à derrota de Melkos, e Iolaus acabou sendo atingido com um golpe na cabeça, o que fez com que perdesse os “poderes” de predizer o futuro.No final, Hercules lamentou ter que dizer adeus a Rheanna, mas lhe agradeceu por ter despertado em seu coração um sentimento que ele pensara ter perdido para sempre ...

Ah, esses olhos, Myriam... foi de cortar o coração na hora em que ele viu o marido da moça! Um episódio bem emocional, como você disse, e que mostra também coragem, liderança e desprendimento da moça!
