HÉRCULES, A SAGA - VI-08 - Full Circle
ENGLISH SYNOPSIS:
VI-08 - Full Circle
Written by Alex Kurtzman e Roberto G. Orsi
Hercules and Iolaus arrive at Nemesis' house to find her being harassed by Ares' soldiers, who are looking for Ares' son, Evander. After quickly overpowering the goons, the two learn that Zeus has taken Evander away from Nemesis. She explains that like his father, Evander has the power to make whatever he imagines become real, and that Zeus took him because he thinks that raising Evander on Olympus is the only way to teach him how to manage that power. Fuming, Hercules and Iolaus leave to find Evander. They soon come across a village being destroyed by a fire-breathing monster covered in polka dots. Hercules rushes over to Evander and the monster disappears. Zeus arrives and tells Hercules that he took Evander to protect Nemesis from the child's vivid imagination. Hercules still doesn't trust his father and tells him that he is going to teach Evander how to control his power. Zeus leaves after Hercules has Evander rebuild the village by using his imagination.
The following morning, Hercules and Iolaus wake up to find that Evander is missing. Ares suddenly appears and tells them that Zeus has taken Evander to use him to release Hera from the Abyss of Tartarus because he still loves her and wants to make amends. Hercules remembers that the Titans are imprisoned with her and could escape if the Abyss is opened. Hercules and Iolaus rush to stop Evander, but he's already released Hera. Hercules is ready to battle Hera, but she doesn't remember him. In fact, she doesn't remember anybody. Suddenly, two glowing orbs rise from the Abyss and burst through the cavern ceiling. The orbs transform into the Titans Helios and Oceanus, who are then approached by Ares. Ares offers to help the Titans destroy the gods and Olympus in exchange for a truce. Helios and Oceanus agree and Ares tells them that they will need the help of their brother Atlas, who is imprisoned in a giant block of ice. Meanwhile, Hercules leaves Evander with Zeus and Hera and he and Iolaus leave to search for the Titans. They follow their tracks to a snowy mountain peak, but Helios and Oceanus have already released Atlas.
Atlas departs for Olympus, leaving behind Helios and Oceanus to destroy Hercules and Iolaus. The Titans morph into their elemental shapes, fire and water, and Hercules and Iolaus lead them on a wild goose chase. Helios and Oceanus run into and destroy each other, leaving nothing but a wall of steam.
Hercules and Iolaus then rush after Atlas, for if he destroys Olympus, he destroys the world. Hercules tells Iolaus that Olympus is supported by a pillar and that if the pillar is broken, it will send the earth out of its orbit. Meanwhile, Hera and Zeus are playing with Evander when Ares appears and sprinkles some dust on Hera that makes her remember everything. She turns Zeus into stone and takes Evander to Olympus, where Hercules and Iolaus are battling Atlas. Just as Atlas knocks the pillar loose, Hera fires an energy orb and Atlas is turned into stone. He will forever hold the weight of the world on his shoulders. But Evander, hit by debris, is dying. It will take godly energy from both Hera and Zeus to save him. Hera turns Zeus back into flesh and they save the child. Hercules and Iolaus take Evander home and Zeus and Hera decide to try to reconcile.
Later, Hercules and Iolaus run into Ares. The god of war is streaming mad about the fact that Hera and Zeus are trying to reconcile. After Hercules and Iolaus tease him a bit, they discover they have actually hurt his feelings. Once Ares departs, the two heroes decide to have a seat on some nearby rocks to officially begin their retirement. Not a moment later, they decide their retirement is over. Iolaus then asks Hercules if he would ever seriously consider settling down. Although Hercules admits that he has thought about that a lot lately, he just can't go through with it. Helping people is his life. It is who he is. That said, Hercules is ready to head off on his next adventure. The demigod asks Iolaus if he's going to join him. Iolaus tells his friend that it wouldn't be right any other way. As they walk off, the two contemplate if Hera and Zeus can really reconcile. Hercules feels that after everything Iolaus and him have been through that anything is possible.
